DuPont Teijin Films Exhibiting at Cartes 2014
DuPont Teijin Films will once again be exhibiting at Cartes 2014 showcasing some of the innovative ways polyeser films can be used in the production of cards for a multitude of applications including transit, ID, security and financial markets.
The usage of Melinex® PETF in card bodies is growing significantly with increasing numbers of card manufacturers and issuers worldwide using this durable card body material.
It is the ability to preserve the desired lifetime of the card cost effectively compared to other materials which makes Melinex® the popular choice.
More and more applications such as all types of ID and Mass Transit cards are looking for additional reliable protection of their electronic components than materials such as PVC and PETG can provide alone.
But unlike polycarbonate, which can also be used for long life cards, Melinex® can easily be used in combination with other materials such as PVC and PETG achieving an excellent balance of cost and performance. These other materials also provide flexibility for different personalisation options including laser engraving.
The use of two layers of Melinex® film of around 150 micron each in the card body provides sufficient protection for the majority of applications and lifetimes up to 10 years and it is this structure in particular which is increasingly popular. Financial cards can also be produced with a single layer of 152 micron to provide improved durability at minimum cost increase. The Melinex® solution has growing acceptance in the market place and most major card producers have PETF cards in their product portfolio.
Melinex® PETF is produced by DuPont Teijin Films who will be exhibiting at Cartes at Hall 4 Stand M077
